In my Porsche Boxter S, this can happen. But what about in my 06 530 xi wagon BMW?

After a month sitting, with key in ignition, it started right up. But if this had been the case with the Boxter, it would have taken less than four days to drain it.

Well, I dont recommend leaving the key in the ignition when vehicle is parked, but oh well. The 530 will shut off pretty much all consumers on the vehicle and go into a sleep cycle. As long as the battery is good and strong and there are no current draw then you should have no problems leaving your 530 for a month or so. I do not know much about Porsche, but I would assume it would have some sort of the same electronics.

Test for a current draw. You will need an amp meter (perferred Digital volt/ohms meter that reads 10A & 400mA). You should be able to find some pretty good instructions with a google search.
