1999 Isuzu Rodeo, bad knocking noisenathancjackson 05-06-2009, 03:26 PM Hey, I have had this '99 isuzu rodeo for about a year now, and all of a sudden the engine just makes this horrible knocking noise from inside the engine. We took it to a shop, and they said it was within the engine, but i've read some stuff saying it could possibly be something else....I just want a second opinion before i go out and buy a whole new car....or buy a new engine...thanks for your help. I added a video i recorded today of the sound when the car is running. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l215/thrasher9898/th_MVI_0556.jpg (http://s97.photobucket.com/albums/l215/thrasher9898/?action=view¤t=MVI_0556.flv) Cat Fuzz 05-06-2009, 09:25 PM Your thinking it could be the timing belt tensioner. That would be on the front of the engine towards the right side. (right side from drivers perspective). amigo-2k 05-06-2009, 10:11 PM http://forum.planetisuzoo.com/viewtopic.php?t=28081&highlight=video+knock yup, sounds like the timing belt tensor. If you ran it low on oil it could be a spun bearing ($$$). Cat Fuzz 05-06-2009, 11:20 PM I can hear a couple different knocking sounds. One sounds like the tensioner but the other sounds like a rod knock. klvaleri 05-07-2009, 08:27 AM Please let us know what you found wrong with it or what you need to replace to fix it. I have the same truck as yours but lesser noise. I have a friend replaced my timing belt when it was about 98K now it's about 140K. Thanks. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
