94 Astro No Guages, No Charging, No Shifting Please help!joker2498 05-05-2009, 11:50 AM The van was bought in Florida in '04 and the tranny was rebuilt right after purchase. In '06 it quite shifting automaticly, stopped charging, and the guages quite working. It has been in Ohio since late '05. In late '06 early '07 the transmission control solenoid, battery, and alternator were replaced. There was no hint that there was a problem prior to failure and everything went out about the same time. What could be connecting these issues or is it just a coinsidence that these systems failed at the same time? Any help would be great. Thanks. brcidd 05-05-2009, 12:01 PM When mine did this- it was the fuse labeled "Brake" under dash-- traced it to the anti-lock braking module- then cut the power to it-- no more blown fuses- and of course no more ABS-- so now it is just like a 1993 van- no ABS. So check that particular fuse- I have seen about 3 '94 Astros behave this way.... joker2498 05-05-2009, 12:06 PM Thanks I will check that and let you know if it helps. When you say "cut the power" i'm assuming you don't just mean to pull the fuse right? brcidd 05-05-2009, 03:04 PM Yes, I cut the pink/white wire that goes into the ABS module-at the ABS module under the brake fluid reservoir... Evidently there is/was an internal short inside the module- I am not paying$1500 for a new one, nor do I care about a used one..I wanted the van to shift, and the speedometer (digital dash) to work. I did this about 3 or 4 years ago, and the adverse effect is that troublesome ABS light on the dash- but a small piece of electrical tape covers it nicely. So now my van performs exactly like previous year's vans do- with no ABS. joker2498 05-08-2009, 06:53 PM Tried cutting the power to the ABS and that did'nt work.
