I need to repair a 2003 Jetta GLS TDI in which I noticed that the temp needle on the dash is not working. The car is not mine and we have no manuals for it.
Most likely this is the temp sensor on the engine but I need to make sure that there is only one temp sensor. I recently went through this on a GM van and found two sensors. One for the computer and one for the dash gauge.
Any help appreciated.

The temp sensor is on a distributor piece of the cooling system. There is only one. If the sensor is not green then it has never been replaced. Get one from the dealer. It should be brass tipped and green. You need the seal and clip. Both are extrememly cheap. The sensor is going to be about 40 though. The distributor piece I am talking about is off of the upper radiator hose. It is a plastic piece.
