2000 windstar trans trbl

Usually shifts OK when starting out. In 10 miles, loses 4th & 3rd. They may jump in and out. What do codes P0705 & P1702 mean. The TRS has been replaced, adjusted and readjusted.. didn't solve the problem. :frown:

have you looked at the wiring harness that leads to the TRS? Mine was fairly messed up as a result of a leaky brake pressure switch which is just above the TRS. If you've replaced the TRS that should be fine, assuming it was installed correctly ... Take a look at the wires leading to the TRS, unwind the electrical tape. Maybe you've got a short of some sort. (Here's hoping anyway!)

P0705 means the transmission range sensor circuit has a malfunction. The sensor circuit tells the computer what gear you are in. P1702 is a curcuit intermittent code. Sure sounds like that would make it go in and out of 4th and 3rd.
