95 civic cx engine swap

the connecting rod and head gasket both went on it so i am replacing the stock engine i have with the same one but v tech, i was just wonderign if any one knew what kind of engine i have and how much horse power the new one will be putting out.

sorry to hear about the engine !

you have the D15B7 engine 102 hp 98 ftlb torque (canadian model)
(I have the 70 hp 83 ft lb torque ,us model)

if you go with a d15z6 (the stock civic vtec 95+ civics then you get 114hp and 98 ft lb torque

but you still have a cx trans, which has taller gearing. but either way it will still feel quicker, but the engine and vtec are matched to the ex trans. (best performance.)


If my engine goes out (also have a cx) I think I'd go with the vtec-e motor. out of a VX, or maybe the HX motor D16Y5 motor.

I love fuel economy, so I could only benefit with the HX motor.

also, vtecs give you an extra 30 hp once they get up to a certain RPM level, remember something about that on the internet somewheres
