Okay my friends brother just got a SR20 engine and he has a 94 240SX and his brother is thinkin about sellin his 240 and getting a sileighty instead and putting it in there, so which do you think he should do keep the 240 and put it in the 240? or put it in the sileighty (which i dont know a whole lot about)?

A Sileighty will either already have an SR20DE(turbo or NA) or the older CA18DE(turbo or NA). But that's in Japan.

The name Sileighty came from having the Silvia(coupe) front end on the 180SX(hatch) body. It doesn't matter what engine you have. This was a custom job that drifters often did, because the Silvia's fixed headlights were less costly to replace than the 180SX's retractable units. The front end makes the car a Sileighty, not the engine.

Since you're in the US, and are talking about the 240SX(coupe or hatch?), your friend's brother might as well just keep the car he has. You can't just go out and buy a Sileighty. Unless your friend's brother does the headlight conversion on a 240SX hatch, he won't have a Sileighty.

Oh ok I didnt know much about sileighty's so thanks for clearing that up for me, but about the 240 its a hatch. It's already a dam nice car I don't think he should go sell it anyways. Does anybody know someone who has a sileighty? Because I've never seen one in the U.S.

I didn't know this guy had a hatch. He's already halfway there. If he really wants a Sileighty, he just needs to do the conversion.

Sileighties are pretty rare in the US. There just aren't a lot of people who have done the conversion. Most folks who do the Silvia headlight conversion have coupes. Ex: Ricky Chu of "Super"( ) Street fame.

Benson at Sileightymania has one, however.

At least in my town there are not many imports other than civics with exhaust and lowered just a bit mainly there are just domestics such as mustangs and thats about it so I dont see many 240's even.

i also think there were only about 150 original sileighty from the factory. in the US it was flipped around, they used a S13 body with a 180SX front end.

exactly.

sileighty's weren't sold in the US and weren't even sold in Japan until after people started doing the conversions themselves and the factory number was 350, not 150. come to the 240SX forum and check out the FAQ to find out more.
