92 Accord -- D Light Flashing -- No Start -- Stalling IssuesRadio Wolf 04-21-2009, 08:37 AM I know there are a ton of potential causes to these types of issues, but maybe someone else has experienced something similar and has a potential fix. I searched for similar issues and saw some threads here with similarities. My apologies for posting this same question on another thread that had been idle for some time -- newbie mistake. Anyway, my father's car (92 Accord) has been having an issue for about a year now. The "D" light will start flashing and the car will not start for anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours before he can get it going again. Is the car sensing that the tranny is in DRIVE, thus not allowing the ignition to work?? He's had it to several mechanics, the dealer, etc. The same items keep being mentioned -- TCM and neutral safety switch. He's tried 2 or 3 different TCM's, had the neutral safety switch bypassed, and a few other remedies. Nothing seems to help. Either all the TCM's he's tried were faulty, or its more likely that this is not the issue. In a few threads on here, I have read fuel relays may be the culprit, but their light that was blinking was an "S" light. My father's is the "D" light. Same difference??? I don't know. Now, just the past week or so, the car will just shut off / stall on him while driving. Sometimes fires right back up, sometimes takes a little while. Can these items be related? Maybe it is fuel issue after all? I know it is impossible to tell over the internet LOL. I am just thinking out loud. My advice to him it to get a new car, but he's stubborn. Any thoughts? Thanx in advance. somick 04-21-2009, 11:58 AM It sounds like a main relay to me. I do not know the location of it for 92. Do a search. We have had lots of posts on this issue. Good luck, Sam ProMan 04-22-2009, 11:19 AM It's the main relay. Located on the driver side kick panel (under the dash). Re-solder it will make it like new. Radio Wolf 04-22-2009, 11:27 AM Before I forget, I should point out that unlike some of the other peoples issues which seem to only happen in warmer weather, the ones my dad is experiencing are happening year round -- and it gets pretty cold here in eastern Canada in the winter. The stalling issue has only happened in the winter. Thanx for the recommendations / comments on the main relay. I will pass the info on the dad. And thanx to the folks who have PM'd me with other comments as well. laloquera 06-26-2009, 02:19 PM I have the same issue with my 92 accord. My stalls (not while driving, yet) and flashes the D light once in a great blue moon, during the summer and summer time only. I love my baby, but I have a daughter to be worried having her stranded on the side of the highway. Would love to nail this issue. Laloquera mudd375 08-12-2009, 05:16 PM I have the same problem. Just took out my TCM and looked at it, looks fine. How do I test for a main relay problem? Thanks. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
