on the way home from a trip to TN it started running rough making me think bad gas, no engine light, eratic running which I think is also causing the transmission to upshift/downshift & torque lock strangely at 70mph.

I ran out some of the gas added lucas gas treatment to neutralize bad gas, filled it with premium and drove on, still running and shifting eratic.

got home, took the negative cable off for 5 minutes, put it back on went for a drive and seemed better. next morning back to running eratic and shifting eratic, maybe over night water or contaminant settled? had AutoZone read code, none, it passed.

still seems as if it would be the gas, due to dieing at stop sign, eratic launch, missing and sputtering. I'm going to keep working the gas through, depending on how much contaminant may have been in the gas the dilution method seems to make it run better but not back to the smooth idle it had.

I ask about the transmission only after seeing the TSB's for Grand Caravans

Any ideas or similar stories out there? I realy need good news for a change!!
Thanks, Rick

Try a couple of bottles of HEET, Water Out, Dry Gas, if you do have condensation in the fuel (the symptoms you describer could well be condensation) the additives should work. I have had this situation several times and it always occurred when tank was below 1/2 and the addtives took care of the problem. If it works great and if not it won't cost a lot of money.

well, it was definitely bad gas, it's been a week and the van is running good, I still have a miss / hesitation when it is cold but goes away once warm. now that I have ran all these water remover and injector cleaners I think I am going to put new plugs in it as well as check all the other replaceable tune up items.
thanks for the feedback!

Glad to hear all is well. Bad gas, condensation can imitate a lot of different problems, in your case a few bucks solved the problem.
