I have finally got this car on the road and now I have a new problem. While driving down the road it doesn't seem to want to downshift when climbing hills. Also I hear a noise like someone blowing on an empty bottle you know? Is the transmission low on fluid? I haven't checked it yet with it raining out. I just had the exhaust fixed at an exhaust shop. May be a hole in the exhaust? Any thoughts? Thanks answering the fuel pump question on my earlier post.

Unless the transmission is going out on you it won't make a noise when low...but check asap anyway. Noise is hard to pin point but almost sounds like a massive air leak maybe?? Are your brakes hard to push? So many things can make noise by can't think of too much making that noise..usually the things we have had to deal with were power steering pump(will make noise if low), belt tensioner, wheel bearrings, alternators, just to name a few noisy things we had to deal with on our old 91 over the years. Check all hoses first.

Thanks for replying. I will check on the hoses soon as it gets better outside. I just came back from a friends house and the car stalled on me once going there. It is surging at idle (possible vacuum leak maybe). It idles from 500 to nearly 750rpm up and down and up and down. I did notice on the way back that I had inadvertently had the cruise control on. I turned it off but it is still doing the idling thing. The whine sound sounds like when someone is carrying ladders on top of their vehicle. I had planned on checking on the trans fluid also and I will get to that. This car only has 92,000 miles on it. I probably will change the fluid and replace the filter in the trans. Thanks again!!
