I usually hang out at the Escort Forum. My girlfiend' 05 Aveo needs a quart of auto tranny fluid. Her owner's manual list's Type IV. I know that Toyota lists a Type IV fluid for their cars. Is this the same fluid an Aveo uses? It's for an Aisin Warner 80-40LE automatic.

Two different things. The names sound simular but when you get technical the Gm stuff is Dexron type ** and the toyota stuff is type T**. I don't think there is a Dexron IV but there is a Dexron VI which is not the same as Toyota Type T-IV. I think the biggest difference, besides being synthetic is the Dexron VI has a lower viscosity spec than other manufacturers call for.
