Hood Bug Shield - is one needed???

Was thinking of installing an optional 3rd party Bug Shield on the front hood of my new 2009 Montawa EWB van. Was thinking of getting either smoke or clear plastic color. From your experience, is a front BugShield needed on this van's design? Are they worth getting / installing???? What color would you pick?

Note: I won't be installing window wind deflectors on our new van. Since my family doesn't smoke (and we don't allow others to smoke in our vehicles), there's no need to have window ventilation while driving. Thus, no optional window wind deflector is needed (on our van).

thanks.

Since my above inquire, I've been keeping a sharp eye on different 2005+ Uplander / Montana vans. Seen a few with front bug guards and I like their look. Yesterday, I bought a front hood bug guard for my new van. Luckily, they had a 20% discount sale in my area. This smoke color "bug guard" should arrive in 5 days - or so. Hoping it looks good on my van as well... (giant smile).

With today's available time, I installed the newly ordered bug guard on my family's '09 Montana van. For a few pictures, surf:

- With Bug Guard: http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w251/Spike99-Pictures/Montana%20Van/BugGuard-after-6.jpg

If thinking of installing a bug guard on your 2005+ van, I hope these before and after pictures help.

I bought my 09 in Dec and already have windsheild pock marks from winter driving. I think the deflector would help avoid any more damage.

Yours looks good.

Where did you get it? Dealer wants too much.

I am in Eastern Canada

I agree. GM Dealer always wants "too much" for their options. Especially for stuff like this. I bought my van's bug shield at my local Canadian Tire store. Special Order took only 3 business days. They had 20% off bug guards last weekend. If you visit your local Canadian Tire store ASAP, they might allow you to buy a bug guard at this discount price as well.

Hope this helps...
