98 4Runner Vibration/Road Noise -110K milesRHF52 04-12-2009, 08:56 AM I feel noticeable vibration (roughness) in the steering wheel while driving(considerable tire noise also). Rear propeller shaft U-Joints and wheel bearings are fine. I had to replace the front calipers and have the rotors resurfaced sometime ago due to warpage. Front wheel bearings the problem? Any other suggestions ? Thanks. Brian R. 04-13-2009, 11:01 AM What kind of tread pattern is on your tires? An aggressive pattern will make noise, and different amounts depending on the age of the tire. Tire pressure should be around that posted on the driver's door. Too high pressure will have this effect also. jdmccright 04-13-2009, 03:11 PM Check the front end ball joints and tie rod connections for looseness. Also, check the control arm bushings and see if they have deteriorated or collapsed due to age. Any of these can cause wheel misalignment resulting in premature hub bearing wear and louder than normal "road noise". Finally, check the boots of the front CV joints for splits and cracks. Water intrusion into the CV joint will cause damage, too. Hope this helps! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
