My 1998 camry is stalling out. Put OBDII scanner on it and code is P0115 (fuel air metering) What is this and how can I fix it? Thanks.

Are you sure its not a code for engine coolant temp circuit malfunction.

you need a scan tool to see what going on. Some things you can do is make sure the temp sensor is plugged in, the connections are clean, and its full of coolant.

For Toyota, it's a coolant temperature sensor circuit or sensor malfunction, as Airjer said.

The scanner said P0115 was (coolant temp) but the computer software said P0115 was (fuel air metering) when I put in year/make/model/engine. That seemed to make more sense since the car was stalling out. The Temp gauge never whent up and there is plenty of fluid. So now I'm realy confused.

Reason is if I'm not mistaken is because you have a coolant temperature sending unit and a coolant temperature sensor.

The sending unit is for your gauge only.

The coolant temperature sensor can affect the fuel injection system and I agree with the rest of the ones that replied you need to get that checked.

It is probably somewhere on your intake near where your radiator hose goes. Look up the sensor on autozone for your vehicle they should give a picture for it and you will know what you are looking for.

Ditto. Every source I use says Engine Coolant Temp (ECT) sensor. Here's a similar code with relative info:http://www.obd-codes.com/p0118

When they say PCM they are talking about the Engine Control Unit (ECU) in a Camry.

Edited for terminology

Every chance it's the sensor but I hope you inspected the connection and harness first. They can be had for as little as $25 on the net or around $60 from the dealer. Probably $5 from a junkyard.

FYI - You can download your factory maintenance manual at the "Factory Service Manuals" thread at the top of the forum. In the diagnostics file on pg DI-16 it says a P0115 code is the ECT sensor circuit. The sensor does effect the fuel/air ratio so maybe that's the confusing link.
