After reading about numerous battery connection faults I went looking for a bad wire and noticed that the battery ground cable was loose and only making intermittent connection. Lessoned learned!!!

Hi there am hoping someone can point me in right direction. I go to start the car and I hear the noise of the starter engaging ( a snap) and then it fails to crank over and then I lose all power in the car. I have to disconnect the battery to reset the electrical. I have had some issues with the remote start holding up the antitheft recently.

I am making an assumption that there is a short in the starter and this is the cause of the electrical trip also.

After I reset the electrical the car is fully ready to start again but the same occurs.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Barry

Welcome to AF!

Test the battery and make sure it's good. Check the amp draw of the starter, should be 200A or less, BUT only if the battery tests good. If the battery is weak the starter will draw more amps. Try rotating the engine with a ratchet and socket, make sure it isnt locked up. Remove the starter and make sure it will turn with no load. You probably should take it to have it tested, but I usually hold it firmly on the workbench and have a helper touch a jump-pack to it. Hold it tight, they have a lot of torque.
