Rear strut removal problems....IntegraB18LS 03-28-2003, 08:20 PM I am installing my drop springs, i cant get the rear lower bolt out on eaither side. what can i do to take them out without breaking them? fi they break what do i have to take off to get it changed/what bushing/bolt will i need? Is there a better way to take off the suspention so i do not have to worry about breaking it? Kyle IntegraB18LS 03-29-2003, 07:34 AM Okay I pulled off the lower arm and took off the upper shokc mounts. the shock came down but the alen bolt on the top was stripped. what do i do now? if i have to remove the shock from the arm then i have to get that bolt out, my impact gun stripped that so now i have to cut it out now? what bushing do i have to get? what should i do? How do KYB GR-2 shocks ride, or is it worth money to get better shocks? Kyle GSR 03-31-2003, 04:01 PM that suck... I have had that happen on two different occasions. diff. cars both on the rear passanger side. what i did was grind the whole nut/thread. shock was ruined but i had replacements and only needed the top hat. you'll need a strut-type spring compressor to compress the spring so it wont shoot and take out an eye. IntegraB18LS 03-31-2003, 04:24 PM what did you do about that bushing in there? how do i replace it/what is it called so i can buy one? Kyle GSR 03-31-2003, 04:58 PM do you mean the bumpstop under the dust cover? when you grind the nut off (and part of piston rod), you'll be able to take the top hat off along with all the washers/dust cover etc. the only thing that will be ruined is the shock (because it wont have threading) and of course the nut. IntegraB18LS 03-31-2003, 05:40 PM The Lower bolt where the shock mounts to, upper one i was gonna cut off anyway. lower bolt it frozen. and one is striped and frozen Kyle GSR 04-01-2003, 10:41 PM i guess just grind the head off too :smoker: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
