96 cavalier 2.2 clutch pedal not returning???bigj4664 04-06-2009, 02:12 AM ok i have a 96 cavalier with a 2.2 in it i changed out the clutch plate pressure plate and the slave cylinder...i finished everything and went to bleed the clutch and when i did the clutch stopped returning....i continued to just pull the pedal up thinking there was air in the line but that didnt help...now when i push the pedal downand open the bleeder fluid comes out then i tighten it and have someone push on the clutch again and open the bleeder...etc. and nothing is happening fluid continuees to come out but there is still no pressure...the only thing i can think of is it would be the clutch master cylinder or the line but that all comes as one? has anyone had this issue before??? thanks J-Ri 04-18-2009, 07:52 PM I just had that problem today on my '04. I noticed the fluid was getting a bit brownish so I decided to change the fluid. I never ran mine dry, just kept adding fluid as it dripped out the bleeder, SO this might not work for you but I bet it will. GM lists a procedure that requires J-xxxx tools that I don't have, so I ended up connecting a vacuum brake bleeder to the bleeder valve and sucked most of a bottle of brake fluid through it without ever touching the pedal. The pedal feels better than it ever did before. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
