2004 LeSabre Clicking In Dash Engine Whine..Suggestions Pls.buick1212 04-02-2009, 12:34 PM I am new to the forum. I just purchased a 2004 LeSabre with 29,200 miles. Two questions: 1. Heard a clicking sound near the dash. Dealer replaced the dash solenoid. Seems to have solved the issue but upon turning car on and off still hear one click. Is this a standard condition or is the solenoid still defective and in need of another solenoid? Understand this was replaced under used car warranty and a TSB on the condition. 2. Hear a slight whine or whirring when driving. Not when foot is on gas pedal but when I come off the pedal or in park. There might also be a TSB on this as well. Taking car in this Saturday to dealer. Want as much info as I can get before I go to dealer. So far they have been outstanding in working with me. I also want to correct any conditions before the 4,000 miles or three months are up. Thanks in advance for comments. Robdaparamedic 04-13-2009, 06:27 PM I have no idea what your dash clicking is all about but the whine could be your brakes. I changed my front brakes and rotors and I hear a whine and/or a high pitched screach like a a bad brake pad. Now I just changed them so I know they are band new. I took them apart today and lubed everything again. Can't figure it out. :banghead::banghead::banghead: Rob pcmos 05-11-2009, 11:48 PM I've had experiences with both issues on my 2004 LeSabre Limited. I'm totally baffled by the clicking sound after startup. This is my third LeSabre and I really can't think of much that I don't know about these cars by now. I've ignored the click because there doesn't seem to be anything wrong. I'm assuming its a relay located in the driver's side footwell fuse box. The other possibility is that it is coming from a relay located under the rear seat cushion on the driver's side where they have another fuse panel next to the battery itself. I can't tell if the sound is projecting from behind me or under the dash. Sometimes I don't hear the three or four clicks in a row until I've driven the car for a few minutes. If I were concerned about solving that issue, I'd probably start by exposing all the fuse/relay bus panels and taking the car out for a drive. I'd pull the rear seat cushion and take the plastic cover off that panel. Additionally I'd remove the Driver's side closeout panel. As for the whining sound, its probably carbon buildup in the throttle body. There may or may not be a TSB on the issue either from the 03/04 or some other model year. My dealer mentioned something about it, although I solved the problem on my own. I ended up scrubbing the gunk out of the throttle myself, problem solved. Initially I thought it might be a noise coming from the transmission because it was very sensative to the gear selection. If I had the car at idle in park and shifted to reverse or drive, the whining noise would come and go with the gear selection. Ultimately I'm pretty certain it was related to the gunk around the idle air pintle in the throttle body. Shifting gears and changing idle conditions will cause the engine to adjust the IAC pintle in the throttle body which would make the noise come and go. Upon tearing down the throttle body and scrubbing it out there seemed to be a lot of carbon gunk built up around the IAC port. I figured it was better to just pull the whole throttle body and scrub it all out in the garage. In about 40k miles of driving, the problem has never returned. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
