Car is making a Grinding/whistling noise while drivingffranky 04-01-2009, 10:20 AM Hi everyone im new to the forums and I hope some of you could help me out. My car is making a grinding noise and sometimes when it gets really bad even a whistling noise. I noticed about 2 weeks ago whenever I would turn it would make a low grinding noise that was barely noticeable but not its full blown and its making the grinding noise even when im just driving straight. Also the car seems to shake when it goes above 70 mph..... Could these problems be related????? Does anyone have any Ideas on what this could be?? Thank you so much in advance On a side note it doesnt seem to make the grinding noise when its raining out..... Idk if this is just a coincidence or what but strange .... 4G4D Store 04-01-2009, 11:23 AM The only 3 things that even come to mind are brakes (pads or rotor), wheel hub, or axle. Usually the axle won't cause a whistling noise, but it will almost like a popping noise. With the brakes you'd notice it more when braking though. Honestly, I'm thinking wheel hub bearing. It will make a whistling/grinding noise. I would take it to a tire shop and have them check your wheel bearings/hubs. ffranky 04-01-2009, 11:42 AM The only 3 things that even come to mind are brakes (pads or rotor), wheel hub, or axle. Also on my right front rim it looks like there is something leaking it looks to be brownish.... Do you have any clue what that could be? Do you still think its the wheel bearing/hub? 4G4D Store 04-01-2009, 11:49 PM The only fluid down there is brake fluid. It's possible that one of your brake calipers is loose or something. I'd get it checked out asap if I were you. You could also have a torn axle boot too. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
