I just got a automatic 95 tahoe. I went to back out and it wouldnt move. The transmission fluid was low, so i put in 2 qrts. Still wont move in reverse and also in Drive it wont shift up all the time unless i let off the gas for a minute, and then it will shift.PLEASE HELP

if the transmission was operated with 2 quarts low the transmission will be damaged and must be rebuilt...the torque converter will also need replacing, as the internal clutch debris will make this part ineffective in providing a reliable rebuild..

also locating the leak would be suggested before repair's are made..

Did you hear any grinding noises when it was low on fluid?

I've had some low like that before and did like you said and the problem went away on it's own after time of the fluid I guess working it's way through the system. How long has it been since this happened?

Yeah, keep playing with it some more, also you may even need to add more fluid, the converter may have took some more since last time you put the two quarts in. Also, play with it like this, after you start the car, work through the selector, leaving it at each one for a couple seconds, just keep playing with it you might get it going.

Your welcome, I just hope I'm not giving you false hope b/c the previous poster may still be very well correct. If he is correct you maybe be able to find a used one for a decent price at a junkyard instead of worrying about a rebuild.
