So I recently traded my 2006 Pontiac G6 in for a 2007 Impala SS.
After dishing out $170 for a new headlight 7 days after acquiring the car (shopping cart at work got taken by the wind and broke drivers headlight), I have decided to start looking into exhuast. I know I want to go with Flowmaster. But that is all I know.
Should I replace with bigger piping from cat back? How big is the stock piping? What series should I go with? I was thinking 40 series.
What's the best way of going about the exhuast? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have an 06 Impala 3.9L. I have been seriously considering getting something done with the exhaust!! I'd like some opinins also. I was thinking basically the same thing. I was probably just going to change mufflers out.
Any ideas??

AFAIK most of the SS guys I know either just replaced the mufflers, or whole system the same size.

What is the stock size of the piping? I'm sure i'll just swap out the mufflers but if i'm feeling like spending some more money i'll replace cat-back.

Im pretty sure its 2.25" to the Y, and then 2" To the muffs. but it Could also be 2.5" to the Y, and 2.25 To the muffs. Everyone I know can't remember cuz they had theirs done with 3" to the Y, and 2.5" to the muffs. lol

So since everyone else did 3" to the Y 2.5" to the muffs.....I might as well also. Any performance gains in doing so with the 40 series flowmasters?

After I pay the bills this month, i'm going to save for a new exhaust. 3" piping from cat to mufflers to tail pipe. Flowmaster 40 series

You won't see much in the way of performance gains. And 2.5" would be sufficient.
