Potential high mileage problems with a gen 5speedracer117 03-24-2009, 01:45 PM Hi, I am 16 and i am looking to buy a sporty used car this summer. My price range is under $5000. So i have been researching preludes and i like the gen 5 ones, but the only ones in my price range that i can find have well over 100,000 miles on them. My question is, are there any significant problems that i would be likely to have with a car of this mileage? Such as, electrical problems, transmission malfunctions and stuff like that. Another question i have is, are gen 5 preludes generally expensive to maintain/repair? I am also looking at The Mk4 VW GTIs. Thanks H23A1Lude 03-25-2009, 05:11 PM Put it this way. I have a 94 with 210k on it, and it runs fine. No problems. Wiring is solid, no problems with anything. 100k on a 5th gen is average. When you go look at it, check under the car for oil leaks etc. partygirl 06-17-2009, 11:38 PM I think the 4th Gen is more reliable. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
