hey everyone,

hope you are having a good day

i've got a 95 metro, and i seem to be getting lots of clicky static poppy noise on the am radio and my cb.

i believe it is coming from the engine, i did the handheld radio test where you take an am radio and wave it around the engine, and i seem to be getting lots of pops noise from around the spark plugs and wires and distributor.

last time i think the plugs and wires were changed was...5 years ago

i checked all my grounds and they were solid

really would like to know if i need to replace anything to get rid of this ANNOYING static

thx all have a good one

Replace your coil wire with a radio suppression wire.

Might check the noise supressor, it's plugged in next to the master cylinder.

i think i fixed this

what i did was sanded the paint off the parts where the screws hold the antenna down to the car, and no more static on the am radio and the CB!

i do believe the antenna was not grounded properly to the frame of the vehicle, thus it was transmitting the noise from the spark plugs to the radio, whereas the proper ground allowed the noise to be recycled through the system
