This thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=315492) was really helpful. My problem is slightly different but I believe now related to the signal switch since everything flows through there. Everything else works fine, but when I put the left turn signal on, the right brake lights won't light. When I was checking it out, I jiggled on a cluster harness under the column and a couple of times there was a click which sounded to be under the hood (ugh), but I couldn't duplicate it after the first two times (of course). Well, the problem isn't that bad so I'm going to just live with it now that I know what a hassle getting to the switch is, but I'll keep all this in my back pocket in case anything worse flares up. Just wanted to say thanks for sharing all these details.

The multifunction switch is easy to replace considering. We have plenty of other relevant threads that discuss your issue at this and the Century forum.
