Wide Corvette C3 (Patriot Car)sportracer02 03-15-2009, 12:07 PM Hi, for my John Greenwoods "Stars and Stripes" Corvette, that ran in 1971 in Sebring, I got the wide body from Scale Production, that originally make it a Trans Am Car ( http://www.scaleproduction.de/product_info.php?info=p175_1971-Corvette-Trans-Am.html ). I decided to make a Custom īvette Here the body from the transkit, ready for primer http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/3630316261666539.jpg and here the body with paint http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/3435333238633062.jpg http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/6637396266356134.jpg MidMazar 03-16-2009, 03:35 PM Looks good with that blue, but the stripe looks weird. It must be do to the camera? sportracer02 03-18-2009, 05:35 PM Looks good with that blue, but the stripe looks weird. It must be do to the camera? Ah no, not the camera, I covered the area blue with a plastic bag as a "brush", so the stripe doesnīt appear smooth http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/3362353564373763.jpg Here the interior (thatīs why Patriot Car ;-) ) http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/6237646430386566.jpg http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/3833306133316137.jpg rollin80s 03-19-2009, 06:05 PM interesting method to get that effect on paint work. really nice color. what wheels are you going to use to fill in those arches? sportracer02 03-20-2009, 02:21 AM what wheels are you going to use to fill in those arches? Hi, well, my first idea was to use modern wheels to give it a Pro Tourer look, now I think wheels in the 80s style will fit better. When chassis and body are united, Iīll check my wheels-box, to bring the car as much down to the ground as possible Rye 21 03-21-2009, 10:03 AM Go 80's style.... Big rims on muscle cars look retarded... Looking good btw... Love the marble stripe :) quadzero 03-21-2009, 03:46 PM Excellent work on the interior. Hope the windows are closed or else all that cash is going to blow away. Nice job and technique with the stripe too. SkylineFan 03-21-2009, 04:01 PM Go 80's style.... Big rims on muscle cars look retarded... Looking good btw... Love the marble stripe :) Then I guess Pro Tour cars are retarded!! :shakehead Good job Micha.... I love the look whether you go old school or new.... DaveT klutz_100 03-22-2009, 04:05 AM You 'da man Micha! Excellent project all round  The paint effect is stored away for future borrowing ;) I guess after the mottling effect, you sprayed the whole body with one/two light coats and then applied masking tape and finished painting the rest of the body? You do know that reproducing banknotes is a crime, don't you? ;) sportracer02 03-22-2009, 07:49 AM No secrets, Steve ;-) The primed body was covered with silver, then the blue was added with the foil. When dry, the stripe was masked and the body was airbrushed blue. Directly after that I removed the mask and realized, that the contrast was rather big. So I airbrushed some light coats of the body colour over the stripe that the contrast is rather low. klutz_100 03-22-2009, 07:54 AM LOL I thought there had to be a coat of body color over the blotting somewhere in the process. However you did it, I think the result is unusual and great! voyageur 03-23-2009, 03:34 PM Hi Micha, that's a great looking 80's beast. The US flag doorboards look a bit odd, but so doeas the whole car. One could say the interior fits the exterior rather well. Don't forget to put some old DIN plates with HH (Hamburg for those who don't know) for that 80's Reeperbahn look :sunglasse Robi J 03-23-2009, 05:11 PM Hmmm... :licka: Looking forward for the wheels installation ! Interesting project, very nice interiors :grinno: Robi sportracer02 04-17-2009, 12:31 PM ... standing on her own wheels ... http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/3336333333323230.jpg http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/3833663062393334.jpg http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/6134626638653439.jpg ... still some details to add ... voyageur 04-18-2009, 07:20 AM Hi Micha, what a great looking pornVette :naughty: Everything fits the odd 80's pimp style. The wheels are an excellent fit, but I'd add some GoodYear decals because the flanks look a bit naked. The door panel looks odd, I think it should go down along the fender flare and not across it:uhoh: Cheers sportracer02 04-18-2009, 07:46 AM The door panel looks odd, I think it should go down along the fender flare and not across it:uhoh: Door panels in those time at those cars had door those panels ;-) http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/6432303431393237.jpg jano11 04-18-2009, 03:17 PM Door panels in those time at those cars had door those panels ;-) http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/28/1077928/6432303431393237.jpg It doesn't look like that in your reference picture. rambenna 04-24-2009, 07:42 PM nice vett man love the custom work vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
