Using blacken-it

I just brought some of this stuff from my lhs and im not really sure how to use it.I tried to use it for some p/e mesh i have i dipped it in it and waited about 2 min and part looked same..no black at all..help what am i doing wrong?

Perhaps you should check with the manufacturer of the mesh what material it's made with. Blacken-it works with brass and white metal, it's not for aluminium or stainless, for example.

Did you clean the parts before deeping them on blacken it? Try cleaning with lacquer solvent.

Dang im stupid you might be right... the etch was tamiyas etch set that comes with their f40 kit ..i thought it was brass but it might be stainless???????

Blacken-It doesn't blacken stainless, but is there anything else that does a better job than paint?

PE screens and grids are a particular problem. I've painted pieces three or four times, trying to find that magic balance between full coverage and too much paint.
