02 S10 wont start...................draasch 03-03-2009, 08:50 AM :banghead:I have a 2002 S10 pickup. Evert now and then when I go to start the truck nothing happens. It will not even turn over. I know the battery is good. key turns with no problem. A new problem that just started today, when I went to start the truck, the horn started blowing for no reason. I turned the key off and turn it back on and the horn stopped. Any ideas????:banghead: Thanks, David brcidd 03-03-2009, 09:46 AM Was the horn continuous or pulsing? Pulsing would indicate a content theft deterrent alarm-- continuous maybe a horn pad membrane switch. Since it quit with ignition on- sounds like a theft alarm. What is the security light doing when it won't start- does it go out after 5 seconds? or does it flash? j cAT 03-03-2009, 10:24 AM :banghead:I have a 2002 S10 pickup. Any ideas????:banghead: Thanks, David the ignition switch has a linkage, this may be chafing the steering column wires..the switch itself may need replacing ..your problem would indicate a switch...,,with the starting...failure.. the alarm if you have one is very suspect..as these wires are part of the problem.. draasch 03-03-2009, 10:34 AM there is no alarm on this truck. i have squared the horn issue away for now. where would i find the switch that you are talking about. it does seem like it only does this when its cold out or if the truck sits for a while.............could it be the sol on the starter????? cant get it to act up with two people around to check the starter..... j cAT 03-04-2009, 09:29 AM there is no alarm on this truck. i have squared the horn issue away for now. where would i find the switch that you are talking about. it does seem like it only does this when its cold out or if the truck sits for a while.............could it be the sol on the starter????? cant get it to act up with two people around to check the starter..... with no alarm system the problem still can be the ignition switch or starter solenoid/motor... because it acts up after inactivity I would check the connections at the starter...remove clean and continue to operate until it fails more often.. when in the fail to start mode do you hear the starter solenoid click ??? IF yes then it would most certainly be the starter/connection at starter especially ,,, the connection nut that connects the solenoid to the starter motor,,,,as I have found this nut to be loose on out of the box new statrers.. this loose nut had me going for a while,,,after that I always secure all the starter connections....remove/clean reinstall nut///paint was on surface as well...small wire brush to clean ..etc,,,, vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
