Putting a Turbocharger in my 2002 Ford Escort

Since I don't have money for a more fuel efficient car I am thinking about putting a turbo charger in my 2002 Ford Escort. It's a regular 4-door car. Since I drive a lot a balance of city driving and freeway driving. Is it a lot of money to have this done professionally? I would do it myself but I have yet to find a service manual for my car. I have looked at Checker, Autozone and Napa Auto parts. Could not find a service manual.

I am just wondering how much will this cost me and would it be worth it? I am also looking into getting a new exhaust put in. A magnaflow one. I talked to a local shop here and they can put one in for a little bit under $150.

Should I do both later on in the future or which one would be the best regarding fuel mileage? I hope someone can help me out with this question.

Thank you.

No one makes a turbocharger for a 2.0 SPI SOHC Escort. It's not possible to put a turbo on your car unless you want to spend the dough to get one fabricated say from a Thunderibrd. To have it done would cost 3-4k. It gets asked quite commonly. I'm surprised no one makes a blower for it. There are a lot of 2.0 SPI Escorts ou there. Go ahead and have the exhaust system put on and put on a cold air intake on the other side of the motor.

I appreciate the informative bit. I will save up my money now to put a new exhaust system first then a cold air intake. I knew someone can help me out with this issue.
