i have a 12 bolt rearend while pushing the car in neutral the car rolled a little and then the tires locked up.with the driveshaft removed the car rolled but make a clunk sound once every revolution of the tires.can anyone help with this problem. have little knowledge of differentials

Pull the rear cover off and inspect the ring gear & pinion, look for cracked or broken teeth.
