The rear hatch on my 04 Ford Freestar opens and closes but it does not lock. Everything is power locks and there is only one key hole that is just on the driver door. It came with a lock/unlock alarm remote switch. I tried the inside door lock switch and the remote switch bye pressing the lock switch many times. All the other doors locked and the rear hatch remained unlock. I can't even hear the lock actuator engaging in the rear. It seems to me the rear hatch lock actuator is bad and needs to be replace. Is this a known problem? Does anyone know if this is the problem or if there is any other possible reasons why it would not lock? Thanks

Welcome to AF. You and many others have had problems with the locks on the 03-05 Freestar. The solenoids on the actuators had to be replaced not only on the hatch, but on the doors, also. It is a fairly common problem. It is about a $500 fix at the dealer. If you are handy you could find one at the boneyard and put it in.
