Contrary to misinformation GM did program provisions to clear a flooded engine on all '97-'03 model Grand Prixs and other GM cars. It is called "Clear Flood Mode". If you suspect the engine to be flooded with gasoline which is possible on a fuel injected engine then perform the following:

1) Make sure battery is fully charged.

2) Push accelerator pedal all the way to the floor (WOT) and hold.

3) Take ignition to START and crank engine.

4) Engine should start.

Note: After engine starts you will have to keep rpms moderately high but well below 4000K rpms until all the gas clears out of the engine. Expect to see a lot of black smoke out the exhaust system.

What the PCM module does is inhibit the fuel injectors as long as throttle position remains above 80% and engine speed is below 600-800 rpm.

Applicable to all '97-'03 Pontiac Grand Prix with Series II 3800 engine VIN "K" and "1" and 3100 VIN "M" and "J"
