The shifter cable on my 95 lebaron broke and now i cannot get the key out or start the car as it broke in drive. Is there any way i could possibly try to move the shifter linkage on the trans by hand or something else i could possibly do to get the car to start to get it home?Ido not want my car to get towed by the city and i dont have the cash to have it towed home. Please let me know. Thanks

Sure you can. The shifter thingy is right on top of your trans. Open the hood, it's hard to describe what it looks like, it kind of looks like a rod with an arm on it. You should be able to rotate it by hand, but if the cable is preventing it from moving, you'll need to pop the cable off of the shifter on top of the trans with a screw driver, you might be able to pull it up and off with you hand. Then either have a friend with you to shift the car from under the hood while you hold the brake, or if you trust your emergency brake enough, apply it and shift it yourself.

Hope it didn't get towed yet ;P
