My Dad bought a new 65 SS 396/325 hp Impala when I was 14, it was Beige w/Fawn int (Glide, 3:73 rear,Holley carb). I talked him into it, he was going for a 283 SS that was (purple-ish w/vinyl top). It was OK ,but when I saw the 396 on the back lot I knew we had to get it! I had just read about that motor in Hot Rod and they LOVED IT!
I got it later when my Dad got a Caddy, had Great times with it and In it :wink:. Man tht thing could burn some rubber and fly!

BTW We took family vacos in it many times, we cruised it in VA when it got chrome wheels and Thrush mufflers (LOUD). He raced my friends and everything, Good Times.
