I havent built a kit in a couple years and got the building bug. I picked up this kit on my lunch break. Really nice kit. Im not going to do anything over the top on it so it should be a pretty smooth build. I went against my urge to make a shiny sled and went with the WWII tank kinda look.

I wanted to do the engine so it kinda looks like a dirty old Cat engine, so I went with yellow. I tried to add grime and stains where they might be after years of use.

I was waiting for paint to dry and thought Id see what a camo oil pan and trans cover would look like...I think Ill keep it.

Here is the engine after I put it together. I might wire it up, but right now this is how it sits. I will touch up some spots before I install it.

I went with a flat medium green for the body.

I was able to add a little body grime. I think it looks ok. It was my first time trying it so Id like another opinion. The picture make the car look a lot bright green than it really is. Its actually a dark green.

Im working on doing a camo theme on the interior but still trying to find the look I want.

I have a few little details that will add to the tank theme but thats later. Thanks for looking.

I think I'd add a little more "weathering" to all the louvers in the hood. That would make it a little more realistic.

I tried that but wasnt getting the results I was looking for. Ill try to figuire something out. I did add weathering to the top of the roof a little coming off the windshield and a bit coming off the rear glass.

Just a little update:

Started to a little mocking up. Im still not sure on the wheels, steelies are the easy choice but I have some other ideas. I went with the camo inserts on the interior. I think it looks ok.

Interesting way to build a 'sled. Body looks OK, but the engine is not that convincing. The yellow is still too bright, which makes the stains stand out too much. Try washing the entire engine with some diluted flat black, that should help it.

Camo interior is a matter of taste, I guess...

Don't forget to add some tire pressure markings (flat white) :naughty:

Thanks for the tip! Its not glued together yet so I can still make some adjustments. I havent tried using flat black as a wash. Im assuming diluted with water? Ill have to try it on a couple junk pieces to see what results I may get.

A wash on the engine will look top notch.
As for wheels, what if you used the white walls out of the kit and really made them dirty? Or camo? Or you could do camo steelies. Or mis-match wheels from the parts box... after all, its a war machine :D

The steelies are chrome in the kit. I like the camo idea on them. I have a set in the parts box I think that arent plated, flat black is predictable but it fits. It will have whitewalls for sure . I did a "wash" on the engine before I put it away. Not sure if it turned out like you guys wanted (it was my first time trying it). Ive tried a lot of different ideas on this kit that I never tried before, so its been fun.
