S15 jimmy looses power on highwayAAronvb 02-15-2009, 08:56 PM 1989 s15 Jimmy 4x4. 2.8 Timberline, Odometer 150k+ Parts replace in the last week Feb 09. Timing chain and gears, cap, rotor, wires plugs, coil. Idles great now, no more high low RPM. Running down the highway 5 minutes the SES light comes on after a loss of power. It does not die. Then it becomes a Rollscanhardly. I shut the engine off, coasting at 70mph waited 3 sec. and compression started it in 5th gear. SES light was off and the power was back. It smells sower when I park it and no water or oil leaks. I have no clue, but it is very irritating. :banghead: Any suggestions? AAron tempfixit 02-16-2009, 12:58 PM Have you checked for any codes? The smell makes me believe it is a cat converter problem, but retrieve codes before throwing parts at it. Here is a link with procedure to retrieve codes if you do not the process: http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c152801c8f76 Post any codes vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
