Motor install with Tranny on or off?

Hey everyone,
Thanks for all the help with my DPFI troubles.
I found a really inexpensive donor car with a solid engine and pulled it the other day.
Now, the donor motor was an auto, my car is a 5spd, so I've already removed the auto trans from the donor motor. I haven't had time to pull the dead motor out of my car yet.
My question is, when I'm putting the DPFI back in, would it be easier to drop the motor in, hook things up (fuel, cooling, wiring, etc) and then pop the 5spd tranny on after the rest of the motor is hooked up, or would I be better off to mate the engine and tranny, and drop the whole lot in as one big chunk?
I would assume installing as one piece would be easier, but I thought I'd put it out there.

Installing as a whole is much easier than installing the 2 seperate. Its a lot easier to stab the transmission while its out of the car.

with my swap we put the motor in with the transmission alread in...took some jacking up of the transmission but it went smooth...probably easier though with both together

If you are going to do it separate, make sure you have help around.

I just had to swap transmissions on my hatch. I attempted to leave the engine in, but doing it by myself, I couldn't get the transmission lined back up to slide all the way in. Wasted an hour or so trying, and finally dropped the engine....took 5 seconds to stab it.

just leave it together and put it in..better manuverability when lining up so just watch your a/c lines if you have them..
