What type epoxy?pacecarguy 02-07-2009, 08:28 PM Hello,my first post.My sandblaster blasted my frame and put on two coats of epoxy sherman williams, think he said mastic. He said 2 coats would be 11 mils.I thought a painter would use epoxy primer first then paint and questioned him on that but he kept talking about the material he uses is tough and bites into the metal as a satin finish. Is this ok? Should I get it painted with epoxy paint somewhere else? I still have control arms and 20 some other pieces to blast and paint, but want it done right.I want a rock hard finish.he used a 2 part epoxy, but it bothers me he used a one step system.Does anyone know about this or what I should do next with the frame or if it will be ok? he said it will dull with sun,so how good can it be? Thanks for any advice,Randall LearnAutoBody 02-08-2009, 07:52 AM Epoxy is an excellent coating for corrosion resistant properties. However, if the window expires, you may have to lightly scuff before painting. Most topcoats should lay down on epoxy primer. You can use an urethane single stage or base coat/clear coat system. If you want super hard chip resistant parts, check into having them powder coated. This works well, but this will cost some $.
