Bike sitting in the snow???!!!es_class 02-06-2009, 09:02 AM hey guys..been a minute but u know i had to come back to the source of infinite wisdom. lol. ok....first time ever but my bike is sitting in the snow. has been for a few weeks maybe over a month now. very rough times and had no choice but to leave her in my moms yard. how bad will this affect me if i never do it again and pull her out in a few months. what do i have to do when i do take her out for the first time. havent started it. had almost no fuel and no fuel stabilizer. please i know. dont clobber me, just give me some advise. BP2K2Max 02-06-2009, 11:09 AM you might wanna check the rotors, chain, brakes etc. for rust and check the tires for flat spots and/or dry rot, but other than that i doubt it did any major damage. come spring just drain the fuel out of the tank and change the oil. there's a guy in my buddy's apt. complex that leaves his bike out in the snow all winter with just a tarp over it, i see him riding it every year, so it can't be that bad for it. richtazz 02-06-2009, 11:34 AM I agree. The worst that might happen is cosmetic stuff like tarnishing of bare aluminum pieces. Do a safety item check as BP2K2Max suggested, and you should be ok. Hell, as big as you are, just tuck it under your arm and stick it in a corner of her basement if she has one, :cwm27: Torch 02-07-2009, 12:32 AM A month or so will not hurt it any, if you are not planning on riding it until Spring comes drain whatever fuel you have left in the tank into a gas can and then run the engine until the carbs or FI run out of gas and the engine sputters out and dies, that will keep the gas from rotting everything while it sits there and goes bad. Use the gas in a lawn mower or as weed killer come Spring don't put it back in your motorcycle, when Spring gets here (hurry up please!) just do all the regular maintenance and it should be fine, if you can run an extension cord out to where it is hook a battery maintainer up to the battery it will keep the battery fresh until you ride it again. KENNETH HUBBARD46 02-08-2009, 01:00 AM fresh set of plugs come springtime, fresh oil, maybe new filter ? A good gas treatment when you do start running. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
