I think I'm back - Ducati 900 NCRpirata12 02-05-2009, 02:31 PM Hi all After 2 years and a few uncompleted threads/builds, I'm trying to make a comeback to modelling and other things. In a nutshell I'm building from a hospital so I have very limited working time and basic tools only. I choose this as an easy kit to try get get back into building and also it should require too many mods/fixes. I'm building OOB. I've choosen the below bike from Tamiya. I already see plenty scratch building opportunities but I'll have to keep this one simple. http://www.motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/classic_bikes/ducati_ncr_900.jpg Please excuse photo quality. Taken from my bed side with a cellphone camera. I do welcome comments and criticisms. I've spent 3 days getting the engine completed to a semi reasonable level. You can tell this is one of Tamiya's older kits (I believe there is a re-release??). A bit of flash but horrible mould lines on engine parts and tyres. Wheels are also done, but I'll post pics later. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b149/pirata12/1-1.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b149/pirata12/2-2.jpg jano11 02-05-2009, 03:45 PM You're a brave man, I hope you'll get well soon and will be able to detail this bike as you wish. Still you are of to a great start! :) CrateCruncher 02-05-2009, 09:13 PM Nice subject! Building it OOB will be good for all of us that have wondered about this model. I was just looking at my kit the other day and thinking about starting it. I agree its not Tamiya's best effort. But, hey it's an NCR Ducati! I'll be watching this one. Speedy get well! JimboCO 02-05-2009, 09:36 PM Wow. Building this from a hospital bed?! I wish you the best in your build and recovery. Jim anaspmd 02-06-2009, 09:06 AM is this ducati 900 engine ? ?? pirata12 02-06-2009, 09:18 AM Hi That is the engine. Its old and doesn't look like much at the moment. I managed to get the frame spray painted (in secret!!) with a can. It isn't looking great but I'll work at it. pirata12 02-09-2009, 01:33 PM An update. Once again excuse the poor image quality. The brake discs are completed: http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b149/pirata12/3-1.jpg The frame. There is some cleaning up and detailing to still be done: http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b149/pirata12/4.jpg The tiny battery. Camera couldn't focus on it too well: http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b149/pirata12/5.jpg I hope to put the discs on the wheels tomorrow, complete the frame and mount the engine.
