hey i was just thinking could you install the supercharged engine and HD transmission from a pontiac Grand Prix GTP or from a bonneville SSEi into a trans Sport???

It would be a sweet sleeper and still be useful as a vehicle.

Has been done on a Montana I think. Check out 3800pro.com. I just read about some guys having very quick vans....you can make ALOT of power with
that setup....KEV

Throw enuff money at something & amazing things can be done but usually also involves is it worth the effort.

Having said that, someone wanted to put in a caddy (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=465286&highlight=northstar) v8 engine.. & someone else actually did (http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Archives/Archive-000001/HTML/20040710-2-039331.html).

Claim of an L67 (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t179908.html) (3800 Series II Supercharged) in a 93 TS here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=4436016&postcount=8).

Stumbled on this L67 thread (http://www.bonnevilleforum.com/t245030/) & an S2 (http://www.bonnevilleforum.com/t245030/#post999738) setup.. & another "middle of it's nitrous huffer build"..

WOW...what a fun to read..thanks 96TS..... and hats off to those who end up with success given all the odds that anything can screwup .
I did that kind of sport in goodold years, where almost anything could be swapped with everything else....it just had to fit in the case...and there was lots of room....give or take a few inches on the driving shaft, modify brackets, and off you go. ..even the cops who would stop me would take fun looking and talking about it, and let me go unscathed....goodoltimes...

But having to mess up with the wire bundles, match the sensors and computers...and the cramped space....I would probably have done it too, but now it would ruin my fun just thinking of it ahead of doing it....but I can see from these other posts the fun they have showing the result....and thanks, please continue doing it, I make it my fun too just looking and reading about it....

Wow love threads like this...

Sadly the L27 in my TS is slowly tanking... It takes 20-50 to keep oil pressure up...( Yes I know, Not a good thing to do to a 3800 ) I have put a couple of thousand on it this way and it just keeps going and holds the same oil pressure.. 40 Psi is about all it will do now...

But I have rebuilt the Trans, used an HD Trans with the 2.97 Ratio... Going to install a Series III L26( NA ) using the intake and TB from a series II... While the trans is out I am going to change the Drive and Driven gears to make it a 3.33 Ratio as opposed to the 2.97 it currently is..

Motor is a Vin 2 from an 06 Buick Lucerne( Spelling ?? ) with 41000 miles on it.. This is what we found when we cracked it open..

What it looks like.. A friend was working on the wiring and the like... At current its at now here on the engine stand...LOL

I ported and smoothed the lower intake, added a PLOG on the front.. Will also use a high flow cat as I think the factory unit is tired at 178,000 Miles.. And in the near future we will go to the 1997 Bonneville PCM.. My buddy added wires for the 2nd knock sensor and a couple others for the Map and the like.. But for the time being it will run off the 95 PCM and EPROM with a 95 Bonneville Stock Binfile... We'll tweak it a bit over time to get it right.. I think with the L26 Series III NA and 3.33 gears it should run pretty good for a dustbuster:)

Just curious why you say your going to use a 1997 pontiac bonneville ECU?? Did they de-rate then engine when they put it in the van??

Also how come your not putting a supercharged engine in the van?? I see that blower laying on the ground in that pic, whats goin on with that??

The motor in the Picture is now at My house on the engine stand.. Still have a few little tid bits that need to be finished before it can go into that van, as well I need to find the time and it will happen soon..

The Charger on the ground is an M62... It will in no shape or form go into the van.. For me the engine swap had to be cost effective... I paid $250 for the motor with a 6 month warranty.. And I plan on towing with the van as well... Not sure I want to Boost and Tow at the same time.. So being that it needs to be a Daily driver I decided to stick with the L26 engine..

I am going to use a 97 PCM as we can flash it with the HP tuner... At least this way we will be able to balance the injectors and then add 2% to the front for the Plog.. And then it will have the more adaptive TCC tables for better fuel economy in town..

The 97 PCM will make it more controlable as compared to the 95 PCM..

And what do you mean by " redate the engine " Its really the same engine and the PCM will not know the difference..

Said de-rate; usually means an engine putting out less power (less compression, de tuned etc) than the same engine in a diff application or vehicle.

Ahh understood..

The L26 is the Series III NA application with 9.4 : 1 Compression.. The heads breathe slightly better than the series II heads...

All I'm really looking to get out of this motor is 230 HP and roughly 245-250 Ft Lbs... If I can do that I will be happy and it should be an easy feat even if that means YT 1.8 Rockers..

I Love the idea of an SC 3800 in the van... But for me thats not practical..

the 90-96 U Body van is derived from the A Body FWD platform...

The 97+ Transports and Montanas are derived from the W Bodies... So depending on what you are doing and which one of these you are doing it to some of the parts will cross over..

For me the good thing about the 95 TS is that it comes in at 3700 Lbs, roughly the weight of a Bonneville( Some less some a little more depending on options )... So with an NA motor that can breather a bit better( Intake and Exhaust work ) Along with the 3.33 gears should net me a very drivable Dustbuster..
