190e Burago/rare inside.mmagda 02-01-2009, 03:28 PM Hey all. I must ask, would you consider someone crazy for hacking up and modifying, a 22 year old, Mercedes Benz from Burago? Anyways i hope you will find the end result worthy of such treachery! Background: I have always loved the 190e, clean cars. Surfing eBay one day i find an auction for an 'unmolested' 1987 [or 1986 can remember] MB 190e form Burago. Back when all things were high quality. I said why the hell not? Got it for 13 USD shipped! I'll let the pictures do the talking now. And yes this will be pic heavy, so no 56k!! When i got it: http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2834.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2835.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2839.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2840.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2841.jpg I like to make my models resemble as much as OEM as possible. So here are the initial workings. [headrests, changed shifter, pedal set, e-brake [picture of dash before for reference!] http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2916.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2922.jpg Oh noes, uber rare BBS RS from Fujimi?! Must have cost a fortune? Nope, 11usd actually! http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2924.jpg cheers, Mike :) mmagda 02-01-2009, 03:36 PM Modding begins. [smoked e-code headlights, and signal] decided not to go 'clear lights' all around as: 1. too hard since lights made out of orange/red plastic, 2. the smoked looks much classier IMO. 3. Whereas you find 'cleared' out lights done ALL the time! http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2926.jpg Painted in the rear license plate tub to a 'texture black finish' or better known as Testors flat blk. enamel! http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2928.jpg Interior, as mentioned before i like OEM; a lot! So this was rather time consuming, as i had to do the initial stage in flat black [carpets, rear door panels] and then had to do the seats in a Gloss, to replicate that of 'freshly armor-all'ed leather seats'! http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2948.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2949.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2950.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2958.jpg -mike mmagda 02-01-2009, 03:41 PM Yep, this installment includes the detailing [well, a start!] to the exterior. SO i am not a fan of the chrome that this car came with. Big honkin' grille, mirrors, and of course wiper. I fixed that pretty fast! ;) http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2956.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2956.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2957.jpg I wanted to make a 'custom set' of taillights. I for one do not like the 'smoked reverse lights. However i like the look of smoked turn signals. Why not do both? :grinyes: ** note the black emblems on trunk lid! http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2951.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2952.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2953.jpg mmagda 02-01-2009, 03:46 PM So the above as you could tell are 'dry fits' as well as the following. And this is the current state of the car, still have more details to take care of. In some pix you may notice i started on the door moldings, and weather stripping. However i did not take a picture of the interior headliner, i painted that in flat black to add more detail to the car. I don't know why, but i just do not want to mess around with 'flocking' just yet; perhaps in the near future? BBS RS looking good! A little pit of poke, and camber in the back... :D http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2959.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2962.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2962.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2964.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2965.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2967.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2970.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2971.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2974.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/errorseller/190%20evil/DSCF2975.jpg All in all, i am happy with the current result. I will update as soon as i get more done. Please feel free to leave whatever comments! -Mike :smokin: thaidiecast 02-02-2009, 08:18 AM This model need to put a lot of effort to make it more accurate. Good start!!! but the seats are too shiny. I will look forward to your progress. By the way, I also do something like you! but need to put a lot of detail. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l276/thaidiecast/66978178.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l276/thaidiecast/48e4f7b7.jpg Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
