Transmission stuck in parkTrampled 02-01-2009, 01:56 PM I have a 91 S10 4x4 with colum shift that is stuck in park. I borrowed it out and got it back broken. He wrestled so hard with it that he broke the linkage that attached to the tranny. What could be wrong? Its been such a good truck I hate to junk it but if it needs a tranny, thats in its future. May be shift tube or shift collar or ign lock broke. With it on jack stands unhook the transmission linkage rod at transmission and see if you can move the shift rod gong threw the side of transmission in and out of park. Let us know what you find there. If so the shift column needs repaired or replaced. Good Luck Trampled 02-01-2009, 06:07 PM The shifter will drop down when I turn the ignition to the on position, so the shifter itself isn't stuck. It is stuck at the transmission, he broke the part of linkage that bolts on the tranny. Blue Bowtie 02-01-2009, 06:45 PM You might need to pull the pan and take a look at the manual valve and park pawl plunger/spring. I'm thinking it may have been bound by parking on an incline without using the park brake. That's a good way to ruin a transmission case. Trampled 02-01-2009, 07:57 PM I guess my next question would be, would it be an expensive fix? $100 + MT-2500 02-02-2009, 09:07 AM I guess my next question would be, would it be an expensive fix? $100 + You need to check it out and find out what is bad or broke first. Seperate the shifting linkage at transmission and see if you can shift it by hand there. Post back what yoiu find. Trampled 02-02-2009, 07:25 PM It will not shift there. MT-2500 02-02-2009, 07:32 PM Pull transmission pan and look in there at shifting linkage and park gear linkage. Let us know how it goes. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
