This car is overheating and I am at a loss of what to do next. It does fine untill I run it down the road a few miles then it gets hot. It goes almost to the red then it cools back to 1/2 then gets hot again?
I have replaced the fan switch because it was not working right. Changed out the radiator as it had a small leak.
I just had the timming chain replaced and they changed the water pump at the same time so it is new.
When it got hot the last time I jumped out and checked the fan and it was running so it is ok now.
Is the anything special to bleeding air from the coolant system other than leaving the cap off and filling as the air bubbles show up? Did I miss something there?
What next?

There may be a little bleeder screw at the end of the top radiator hose, on the block. If not, you'll have to do it with the cap off. If all else fails, you might want to try replacing the thermostat if you haven't already.

I too would say check your thermostat. Most thermostats stay open when they go bad but occasionally one will stay shut an cause your car to overheat rather quickly. Too many heat ups to the red an you'll blow your head gasket an that's never fun
