I am buying an 05 Mariner this week that has no key fobs included. How can I determine which ones are correct to match up with this vehicle

Well, there are many different kinds of fobs, but I don't think parts stores carry fobs. Which means you need to go to the dealer, and they will know. As far as programming them, it is SUPER easy, so don't pay for it. If you have some fobs lying around, then try to program them, it won't hurt anything, except for un-program any previous ones which may be in existance.
