just to drop a line (3 topic in 2 day, it's a record for me)

I just got a can of Duplicolor Metal Cast Chrome, and let me say, I was looking for a real chrome paint for ages now and finally found it ! this paint is totally awersome !!

I'm working on my Enzo, and the Chrome part are very badly made by tamiya (shame on you Tamiya) so I just repaint the exaust and some engin's part, totally awersome !

7$Can for a big spraycan is a shame ! it worth 3 and 4 time this price !

Sweet! I saw that stuff at Wal-Mart for $4 CAD a can. Do you need to primer between, or just spray on?

This is the one I saw... not sure if it's the same...

Duplicolor Chrome (http://www.duplicolor.com/products/gold-chrome.html)

EDIT: Just saw that this is an enamel and a PiTA to use. I'll avoid it. I can't find the METALIZER paint in chrome that you're talking about... is it a laquer or enamel?

yes it's what I have.. I spray directly on the plastic (chrome part) with no problem. I will need to buy some gold for rims :D

It's not MEtalcast sorry, the other spraycan I got yesterday is Metalcast.. sorry for my mistake

btw I got the 11oz spray can for 6.99$Can

So you sprayed the chrome duplicolor over Tamiya's dull chrome? That could mean the difference between spraying it on plain white plastic or previously metallic plastic.

Nonetheless, I'll give it a try if I go on a chrome spree.

Yes I did that.. I also tryed on a scrap peice before for testing (black peice) and it was very shinny.. better than the Tamiya one.. but with a dull chrome base coat, it's a bit better (end to end)

ok guys, here is 2 picture.. it's hard to see on picture, but it is way more shinny ! Pipes are made of Duplicolor Chrome

I'm not sure if it's better than Alcad (never used it) but this paint IS chrome and I love it. and It's 7$Can for 11oz (alcad is 9$ for 1oz i think)

EDIT: THere is no blue in the color, it'S the reflection of my monitor and the yellowish is the light :D

I do think that AlcladII Chrome looks better, but I can't get it around here, so I'm going out tomorrow to get some of that Duplicolor. None the less, the both look awesome. Better than Revell's chrome :D

yes.. It look near the same for me (my picture look bad becose of the light that is yellow) anyway, you need to use Primer with this paint.. but it's ok if you paint on chrome part (act like a primer)

Any chance to polish, or coat or anything to give this kind of chrome spray paints a higher gloss?

I'd avoid clearing it without testing, when I did it the chrome effect was completely wiped out and left a vaguely gray metallic color.

The thing I like about this is that the chrome effect isn't that bright. Which is more realistic, in my opinion, to many of the other finishes out there. Although I reserve the right to change my opinion once I finally figure out how to use my Airbrush and Alclad. ;)

Thx, you saved me once now.
Anyone making the choice between Krylon chrome and Rust oleum chrome? Does any need body preparation before spraying? I'm not talking about a can warmup and good shake. Maybe you save me twice.
