92 4.3w idles high, no vac leak, new tps, clean egr, code 22randolphtpr 01-29-2009, 08:27 AM this is my third post in over a year for the same issue....this motor idles steadily at 1000 in gear and steadily at 1100 in neutral....it starts and runs great....i just installed a new fuel pressure regulator(other fuel injection components appeared ok), cap, rotor, plugs...cleaned the egr(found a chunk of carbon ....i don't have a screen), cleaned mass air, new temp sender, iac clean....still getting code 22....can you explain this high idle and help with info on the ecm.....also in my book code 22 mentions a fuel pressure cut off relay....what and where is that....do i maybe need a new egr valve.....if you search my other posts either here or in gmc jimmy there may be more info for you..."randolphtpr" is my handle ...help! MT-2500 01-29-2009, 12:11 PM Pitch that book in the trash can. You need some good repair info. http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html Code 22 is a TPS sensor code. Also check TSB 92/04/3092-6e-12a for code 22 repair . randolphtpr 01-29-2009, 09:54 PM i have been lusting for an alldata subscription....i guess it's time....i'll be checking the voltages coming out of the new tps this week end....is there something that could be destroying the tps...it's my second one ....as poor as it is i'm keeping the book...i'll post again when i know something new... MT-2500 01-30-2009, 09:30 AM Yes a lot of good repair info in the all data sub. As in the TSB on the TPS sensor it explains the problem on it and tells about it has been updated with a new part no/type tps. Voltage check only tells you if the TPS sensor is bad or working at the time of when checked. A lab scope is the only true test on a tps sensor or the only thing that will show a drop out or glitz in voltage. Good Luck randolphtpr 02-01-2009, 02:34 PM well...long story short....the tps was the wrong unit.....don't know what it is from but identical except that it pre-loads tension the opposite direction....my badd....it bought it and put it on...never thought they would sell me the wrong one....i guess i didn't pay close enough attention when i took the old one off and the new one installed with some tension as it should,,,,thing is that there is enough rotation room for the throttle to release the tension and rotate to full throttle without interference from the tps ......basically one clockwise and one counterclockwise....sorry to waste your time mt2500....hate to think of the time it cost me.....i now have a 4.3w vortec running perfectly....and that's no small task... No problem. If you figured it out and got it fixed our time is not wasted. Just glad you found the problem and got it fixed. And thanks for posting back how it went.
