My husband changed the plugs in my 2000 Intrepid, it has a 2.7 in it. He pulled the #2 plug out and the end of the plug broke off in the hole. The elbow part and the round part in the middle are both inside the hole. He tried to fish it out with a magnet but it didn't work. Called a friend who has a shop and he said it should eventually come out the exhaust. So we went out and started it up and it there's a little "ping" noise now. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :runaround:

The sound you hear is the piece of spark plug being bounced around inside the cyclinder. The thing is that these are an interference engine, which means the clearance between the piston and valves is very tight, so tight that if the timing chain were removed and the crank or cam shaft turned the piston will hit the valves.
My concern is that the little piece may cause damage to the valves.
If the ping does stop, piece gone, I would do a compression test on that cyclinder to insure no damage has occured to the valves.
