A leaking rack seal?

Front end was greased every 3,000 miles. Could be a seal. How do I test for a seal leak?

I have seen similar problems on GM trucks and suv's, replacing the steering box will repair the problem

Don't quote me, but I read a post on another auto forum some time ago that said to slide the end 'accordion' rubber boot back and check for power steering fluid.

I will check the boot seal but there is no fluid loss. I will check the steering box. That sound more like the problem. I will look at it when it come back Thursday.

if you have the rack it is probably the cause....
