The vehicle speed sensor is under the governor cover. In both the 3-speed and 4-speeds, it's just above where the passenger side axle shaft goes into the transaxle.

Do you mean the drivers side? I thought it was on the transmission?

No, it's on the passenger side. The transaxle wraps behind the engine. Just follow the CV axle from the passenger side tire to the transaxle and you'll see the plug for the VSS.

The VSS on your car is part of the governor cover assembly, so technically it's not a stand alone part. Here's a picture from AC-Delco's website of the governor housing/VSS assembly.

When mounted on the vehicle, it will be positioned 90 degrees to how it is in the picture. In other words, the o ring will be on the bottom, and the harness plug will be coming out the side. I hope this helps.
