Test driving a vehicle that has sat for 2 years?

I just bought a 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT Non-Turbo Base Coupe with 136,000 miles on it for $1,200. The car has been sitting in the seller's garage for over a year and half rarely started or driven during that time. "When I pick the car up, I'd like to drive it around the block to make sure the manual transmission shifts right and to listen to the engine before I pay the remaining balance." "Could I damage the vehicle in doing this, being that it has the same fuel, oil and other fluids from nearly two years ago?" Not to mention, that the tires are dry rotted and the battery is dead. It will start with a jump though. If it checks out, I'll haul it home on a trailer and fix it up. Thanks.

I think it'll be fine.

In my opinion, potential damage from car's sitting is almost always overblown (usually by the manufacturers of oil and fuel "stabilizers")

Should be ok for a test drive, but you'll want to change ALL the fluids right away.
